I'm impressed with Starbucks test marketing of wonderful new architecture. I saw a beautiful new marble waterfall in Shanghai. I also saw an early version of MacCafe in Shanghai.
This is a good summary of Starbucks playing with architecture in Japan.
I love getting my morning coffee at Starbucks, since I know I can always expect my beverage of choice to taste exactly the same as it did the last time I drank something from there – even if it was in a different state. If they can extract that same dependability with their alcohol beverage service, that might be a strong point in their favor.
