It’s hard to ignore. Revolutions are occurring around the world. The three most extraordinary are the Lebanese who linked hands the entire length of their country to eject the Shia and their government, the Hong Kong public that turned out by the millions to demonstrate and voted over 90% for change in a recent election and The United States that elected a man who had never been in politics, was hated by 95% of the mass media and won by a complete surprise.
The cause is the Internet. Only the Internet is global and connects all these disparate events.
But what does the Internet do?
It lets the public see that the elite rulers and the dominant media are consistently lying to them. And have been for a long time. Lying by omission and lying deliberately to maintain their own power.
From looking at the early stages, it would appear that the revolution is in its beginning stages. Radio took a few decades to create Hitler, Mussolini and Franklin Roosevelt. TV took two decades to create the ‘hippies’. The Internet is taking even longer than the earlier two.
The rebellion knows that the elites and the mass media lie. The mainstream followers don’t. But the mainstream members will slowly fall into the knowledgeable category. It doesn’t seem to matter who the mainstream is. Their position of power makes them vulnerable.
It would be convenient if all the Internet provoked rebellions had some consistent content. But they don’t. It is rebellion against the lies of the incumbent power elite. If the core lie of oppression is large and potent, the rebellion is stronger and more vigorous. If not, then not.
