It is clear to me that I am no longer a Republican. I have been a Republican since I was president of the San Francisco Young Republicans in 1964. I have worked in one presidential campaign, one gubernatorial campaign and one assembly campaign; all for Republicans. I was a campaign management trainer for the Party.
Trump has been a disrupter for both parties. He has shown me that the mainstream media has been a Democrat Party organ since 1964. The Democrats have recently split into the party that wants more incompetent government, and the Venezuelan majority.
Trump has taught us that politics requires the rebuttal by the incumbent, with as much force as necessary to get equal or more time.
Trump has turned around my views on tariff agreements. I only assumed they were too pro-union and pro-ecofreaks. They have been consistently bad for the U.S. and used as a development tool. I strongly supported the WTO as a way around bad tariff deals. But the WTO was ruined with the admission of China, a scuflaw, Saudi Arabia and many countries that have no significant productive sector.
He has aggressively cut back the regulatory state. Republicans never really did anything on this vital issue. He pointed out its central importance in a speech in Poland..
He kept his many campaign promises including moving the Israeli embassy to Jerusalem.
He bravely showed us that most elected Republicans don’t accept major changes; he has eradicated decades of bad policy in every area of the bureaucracy.
Trump openly defied the eco-world but never got into an argument with them. Brilliant.
Only a real estate developer could have lived with unremitting years of media hatred and learned to survive it. He showed it is possible. The mass print media and most network TV are enemies of America.
President Trump has shown that major departments of the Federal Government are so corrupt they must be totally overhauled: FBI, CIA, IRS, Federal Courts and Justice.
He is cancelling Aid to Africa, which Republicans used to (try) and buy the black caucus; it is a total waste of money. Here and there.
I now understand that the Republican Party is not a conservative pro-commerce party. It is a party of weak incompetent politicians.
