I found myself giving marketing advice to a small business the other day. What surprised me is that most elements of marketing your business haven’t changed.
There is that big thing: the Internet. Yes, I acknowledge that. In some ways the Internet is like the old phone book. You must have a presence. You need to be found in a Google search, you need an URL, you probably need Facebook and Instagram right now, and Linkedin. Maybe a few very positive recommendations on Yelp or Amazon, but those are a two edged sword where a negative review is calamity for years.
In general, marketing is back to the traditional aspects that Rasberry and I cover ( Salli Rasberry) in Marketing Without Advertising. Good social networks, good recommendations, good recourse and regular stimulus for your network of clients.
Surprise? I am surprised we have returned to this point in only about ten years.
Maybe we can get a publisher to do a new edition.
