I wonder why I never thought of it. I’ve been a pilot for nearly 60 years and pilots use UTC.
UTC is Greenwich mean time. You can just put “UTC time now” or “GMT time now” into Google to get your local time. It should be in military 24 hour units, but Google still uses am/pm.
What has become obvious to anyone who thinks about it now is that we should all be using 24 UTC. For me that means I get up at 1400 hours, have lunch at 2400 hours and go about my life with no concern about daylight savings or daylight wasting time. In Tokyo I get up at 2000 and in Tel Aviv at 0400.
The 'no time zones' model is currently being called the Hanke-Henry model.
