There are four attributes of commerce that resemble the Darwinian aspects of nature.
The first is the creation of the modern commercial income distribution. As I have calculated on an earlier blog commerce generates one billionaire per million workers. That resembles a Darwinian world with one giant sequoia for every million bushes.
The second is that for life to grow, new living cells must replace dead cells. New organisms replace dead ones. That is part of commerce (not part of government which is more like cancer that Darwinian life). where new businesses replace dying businesses. Thanks Hans D.
The third is that commerce thrives on meritocracy. The best suited person for every job or function is given that job or function. Not a relative or fellow tribal member. Meritocracy resembles Darwinian selection of ‘most fitting’ the core to species survival.
Fourth, diversity trumps homogeneity of species and niches for species survival. Diversity is a core value of commerce. Not ideological diversity of race, ethnicity or gender but real diversity of skills, imagination, values and competence.
This similarity of human created modern commerce to Darwinian processes gives me some hope for the survival of modern commerce against the current cancerous hysteria of Lefty fundamentalism.
Entire species do get wiped out regularly.
