I have long speculated that the divisiveness and anger of the Democrat Party is the reason for the no-growth recovery from the 2008 financial recession. The reason for this speculation is the optimism associated with starting new businesses that is thwarted by the Democrat anti-commerce ideology..
Economic growth and vigor require a large number of new business formations and the associated innovation. This ultimately results in spurts of productivity. Since I played a role in helping the hippies create a great flowering of new businesses in the 1970’s that resulted in the burst of economic growth in the 1990’s I saw the connection with my own eyes. Our explosion of small businesses created the personal computer and the Internet.
While I am not back tracking on my view of the damage the Democrat Party does to American economic vitality, my recent blog on the vulnerability of our 150 year interim era of modern commerce has forced me to consider that the Islamic attack on the U.S. on 9/11 may have had a more profound effect that took several years to become visible.
I say this because nearly all the currently vital corporate powers and the source of our great vitality pre-dated September 2001.

The only exception is Facebook which dates to 2004 and grew initially on a college campus surrounded by young people.
We are in a sterile era today that has 100% of its roots in the prosperous optimistic 1990’s.
It is very possible that the shock of the Islamic attack on the U.S. is being felt today.
