Many of my friends only rely on the Lefty media, TV, PBS, NYTimes, New Yorker etc. for news. They are uninformed about our world.
A few friends have added the Wall Street Journal to their information sources. They too are uninformed about our world.
Only if one uses the Internet, with a variety of blogs and newsfeeds is one likely to be informed on world news and directions.
Why doesn’t the WSJ add a needed dimension?
It could add a needed dimension with its interesting op-eds, especially a few greats like Bret Stephens. But most of the people without Internet news sources, don’t read WSJ op-eds.
The WSJ brings a different perspective than the Lefty media. It doesn’t see everything through the lens of a political Lefty American. The New York Times has the Herald Tribune in Paris, but that only adds more material to the existing Lefty American political lens.
The WSJ has a large and important Asian WSJ which helps provide more Asian news than Americans would get otherwise. And the WSJ has an American perspective but it is more about global business impact on America than about seeing the world through an American political lens. Most Lefties who read the WSJ never notice this different perspective.
I always ask serious and knowledgeable people what sources they read on the Internet. I think I will write more about these lists.
So far, most look at Drudge.
