Don't worry. I'm not going to write a Germanic philosophic piece to ruin your day.
I had a period where I loved Hannah Arendt's work and that period has passed. That is the only time I paid attention to Heidegger. I always knew there was a deep connection of his work to Nazism. There would have to be. Politics is a subset of worldview.
Recently I read a commentary on Heidegger in Foreign Affairs by Christian Madsbjerg that helped me to realize that Heidegger is an important philosopher of the anti-commerce world. My intellectual nemesis.
Heidegger is a champion of the Germanic 'blood and soil'. You are 100% the by-product of your cultural and historic traditions and proper living is an acceptance of that. This is a perfect statement of anti-commerce and anti-Jew.
Jewish tradition also believes in the power of rational thought and the power of social institutions to accommodate individual character. As a consequence, Jews fit well in a commercial society.
Heidegger is a champion of the tribal world with its intense and deeply intertwined personal relations.
Commerce is a pragmatic world where individual relations are autonomic, ad hoc and open. We commercial people sell to everyone, buy from anyone; we work with the most competent people regardless of their family and we use technology where it works best. Pro commerce and anti-Heidegger.
We find authenticity in following our lives to where they lead us in a multi-complex world of commerce.
