A friend recently sent me the URL for Tablet an online somewhat Jewish magazine.
I read two articles that I liked. They were long and I didn’t like reading them online.
I realized that I have online subscriptions to three or four magazines and the WSJ. I don’t look at the online magazines and only read the online WSJ when I’m travelling and can’t buy the paper edition.
Why?
The answer is simple. Reading on my big screen (actually two screens) is ‘work’ which I do at my desk. Reading for pleasure is done on a couch with light reflected on the page.
Just my division of work and pleasure, which matches computer screens and paper. The same applies to the iPad. It feels more like work when I read a backlit screen.
