Charles Manson may be back.
Charles Manson was the head of a late 1960s cult. Manson ordered other cult members to go to the home of Sharon Tate, a movie starlet and kill the people there as well as a few others. They did, and he is still in prison based on his sentencing in 1971.
It has always been feasible to get the home address of celebrities. It was not so easy in Manson's day but he did understand that murdering celebrities and their friends would attract attention to his particular ideology; it did.
Today it is even easier to find the home addresses of celebrities. They are now on the Internet thanks to a hacking group that hacked into Sony Universal studios computer files and has published 47,000 names, addresses and Social Security numbers from their 1099s.
Some of this data is very old and the people who are now celebrities made no effort to hide their own address. Many are people who were paid only a small amount and didn't bother to hide their address.
It strikes me that many celebrities now have their home addresses readily public at no cost to the malicious people who might pursue them. The cost of moving is high and few people want to move in the first place.
At this point they either need to hire guards, buy weapons and become proficient at them or expect some new followers of Charles Manson to visit them inappropriately.
Hacking may a be a more serious crime than the law presumes.
