When you read the extraordinary history of Jew hate in Europe in David Nirenberg’s book, you are inclined to see it as central to Christianity both Roman Catholic and Protestant. Hundreds of thousands of people were killed between these two religious sectors (as well as others living in Europe) over the issue of religion. Both sides had their version of why Jews were so hateful. It changed a little over 1,700 years.
Something about WWI changed this Jew hate significantly in post-Enlightenment Europe from a mild tolerance of individual Jews in daily life, in academia, in business to a more pervasive Jew hate that by the late 1920s and early 1930s was making survival difficult for Jews in every part of their lives.
Now we are two generations beyond World War II, when nearly all Jews who lived in Europe were either murdered or migrated, many to Israel.
The European Jew hate has followed Jews to Israel. This Jew hate is also written on the wings of Leftist's ideology and spread in a new form throughout Europe and even to academia and journalism in the United States.
I am forced to come to two conclusions.
-
One conclusion (that I have already proposed in the past) is that Jew hate is a reflection of a class society with an hereditary upper class that uses Jew hate to divert attention from themselves.
- Two, that Jew hate has merely migrated to a new ideology which is Leftism and environmentalism. The migration was easy because the new ideology, Lefty-Jew hate, is very similar to the mature Jew hate of the early part of the 20th century. The earlier version was that 'Jews control the emerging successful commercial world'. The Left hates the world of commerce. Leftism now accommodates the old Jew hate perfectly.
