This is more on the issue of our approaching American civil war.
Tom Perkins wrote a letter to the Wall Street Journal which was picked up widely. Perkins is a wealthy man, one of the founders of the tech investment firm of Kleiner Perkins, who was married to author Danielle Steel and is notorious for his public investments in environmental businesses.
Perkins complained in his letter about the public political attacks on the 1%. For his candor he was smeared and excoriate by nearly everyone.
It is my contention that Perkins felt the social heat of the impending American Civil War from both sides; from the Blues and the Reds.
The Blues are the ones he specifically mentioned because they use the terminology of '1%'. They act out of sheer envy and Marxist ideological bilge water. They hate successful people and wish them ill.
The Reds are the ones he may feel but is not consciously aware of. They are the people who believe their country and their values are being trampled by the Democrat-Union party. They know that environmentalism and union values are hostile to their own livelihood and family survival. So when they see a rich person who made his money in the commercial world who turns around and uses that money to destroy the same source of success for other people, they are also angry and wish that person ill.
Tom Perkins and many people like him are the targets in the middle of both sides of the emerging American Civil War. I suspect they are increasingly feeling this heat without knowing the reason they are feeling such discomfort.
