Two days ago I discussed the interesting phenomenon in which the Internet has become the platform for two national discussions both provoke by the President’s bizarre behavior.
Now I want to comment on the implied direction resulting from both of these national conversations.
The first is an implicit understanding that our black underclass can not be reformed, augmented or ameliorated with any known government policy. Neither money in the form of welfare, prison training nor public education improvements will have any desirable impact. None. We have a large black permanent underclass.
To me this is a radical change in public perception. It is dramatically different from the Lefty core value of: equality of economic outcomes. (Tribal equality for all members). It also may impact rich donors who hope their contribution to the Democratic Party will assuage their guilt about the existence of an underclass.
The second implicit understanding from the Middle Eastern conversation and outcome is that America's effective role can only be meaningful in societies that have many similarities to our own society.
I think this realization about cultural differences, which Americans have never recognize could very well become the basis for a failure of the Democratic Party. The party is so ideologically narrow that is has trouble dealing with the complexity of the world. Particularly the complexity of the world with many different cultures that require very different international strategies.
America has always been very poor at foreign relations. Europeans do not necessarily understand cultural differences but they do have a term 'national characteristics' which allows them to adjust their foreign relations to individual nations.
These are two speculative positions that I see arising out of the interesting recent national conversations. They could forebode ill for the Lefties in America.
