I don't know how many of my blog readers sit through the film credits at the end of a film. I do occasionally.
The most dramatic change in ilmmaking that I have observed is in the credit section of the films.
If you take a look at the end of the list of credits for a half-century old film, Casablanca, you will find a few non-traditional American names. Very few.
If you take a look at the film credits for a recent film, I arbitrarily selected one of the 10 most popular, the Shawshank Redemption, you will find dozens of names like: Kokayi Ampah (production supervisor), Alba Leone, Sebastian Milito, Scott Mizgaites and Taneia Lednicky.
Our society has received and integrated millions and millions of immigrants. They are so thoroughly integrated into our society from every part of the global that we don't even notice the extraordinary ability of our society to integrate immigrants.
Our immigration laws changed in 1964. That has been a great source of American vitality to this day.
I only want to point this out in the simplest possible way, the use of film credits. I have been pointing this out to corporations and government bureaucrats for many decades. It is truly the source of America's original vitality and our most recent vitality. These people never came to America because they had unique skills or money.
Immigrants have always come to America because they are ambitious and want to create a fulfilling life for themselves and their offspring. That is the only criteria we should ever you use in selecting immigrants.
