The photo on the right shows a long pier just beyond the entrance to the San Francisco Bay. It is only used for fishing.
One morning before September 11th 2001, I saw a large ship pull up to the pier at about 6 AM.
The ship disgorged several hundred Chinese illegals with their baggage on their backs and suitcases in their hands. They had obviously been told to make a run to the South up a wooded hill.
They were being sent to Clement St. It is a Chinese neighborhood about a mile away. They would have had to have gotten through the woods and around a lake. But I assume most of them made it to Clement St.
They would have fit in perfectly in that Chinese neighborhood. A bus could have been waiting to take them anywhere.
I tell this story because it shows how readily immigrants have always gotten into the United States. If there is an existing population, they can easily be assimilated.
