Marriage for old age

All of my older unmarried readers. Those over 50 who might want a mate. I have seen a phenomenon that is more visible to me as I age.

I have seen three women friends of mine who were in their early 60s getting married for the first time.

The men they married seem to be competent and financially stable.

The reason for this older marriage seems to be a desire on the part of both people to have a close intimate who will help them cope with the misfortunes of old age.

None of my friends have said this is their motivation. I am only speculating.

I do hear this spoken of as a motivation among my older gay friends.

In any case, I suggest that this is a valid and real reason for pairing and marriage among people who are approaching Social Security age.
