Immigrants vote for their old country

I went to a naturalization ceremony a few years back.

At the door, there were many desks with Democrats signing up new citizens. I only remember one Republican registration desk.

It is not surprising that new immigrants should sign up for the Democratic Party. Except for the smart ones, Cubans, who know that the country they left was a tyranny based on the same pro-government values as the Democratic Party, others do not have such clear vision.

Most people who become citizens simply have no understanding that it is the Republican party that stands for the Hamiltonian, Constitutional values that have made commerce successful and made America so appealing.

Even though they are required to learn history they probably never understood that slavery was the core of the Democratic Party for a century. Nor do they understand that the Democratic Party has been anti-commerce for the entire 20th century.

The reason that this country is so appealing is because of the values of Hamiltonian pro-commerce democracy. The reason the country they left offered so little in the way of personal and family development, jobs and freedom is because that country was suffused with government. They are leaving an ominous pro-government environment and voting to restore it in their new home.

Why?  Because the education we give new immigrants is entirely inadequate.

We give the same inadequate preposterous failed education to the bulk of our college students as well.
