James Lovelock defects

James Lovelock is a name that everyone who was an early environmentalist will know.

Lovelock is the major thinker in the idea that our atmosphere can be treated as a living organism or at least as a metaphor of a living organism.  It is called the Gaia hypothesis.

Lovelock also played a role in demonstrating the connection between CFCs and ozone depletion. He worked for NASA for many years.

In this article you will see that he now treats global warming as a minor issue. It is a very slow insignificant process.

This is a defection by a great atmospheric scientist.  Lovelock explains in the article that the evidence for global warming is increasingly defective and inadequate.

I have often thought to myself that there is a disconnect between the Gaia hypothesis and global warming. The global atmosphere should be able to accommodate a trivial increase in the level of carbon dioxide which itself is a trivial component of the atmosphere (0.0387%) . Freeman Dyson calculated that a very large increase in carbon dioxide could easily be absorbed by a quarter inch expansion of global topsoil.
