One of the most startling qualities of new technology is that it can improve on reality.
Certainly the first telescope had that quality as did early microscopes. The same is generally true of any new technology from submarines to chronometers. Life extending health practices and products obviously have this quality.
For me the smartphone is beginning to deliver many improvements on reality. When I am at a large airport I am usually in a segment or wing where I can only see part of the roster of arriving and departing flights. Now I have an app called Flightboard that allows me to look at all of the rosters over a three hour period at any airport. It is just marvelous for knowing when a connecting flight has left its original airport as well as finding alternative flights on other airlines when my own flight is delayed or canceled.
Let me know some of the other elements that you are finding on your smart phone that improves on reality.
