The blog title is an exaggeration. I was at Costco the other day during the business shopping hour. That is the time that small businesses come in and do their shelf restocking.
Being a male chauvinist I looked at most of the women, several hundred, and decided that the number of beauties was close to zero.
This led me to wonder who goes into small business or self employment these days. I actually have no current data. When I consulted with new hippie businesses in the 1970s most of the people were smart and attractive. They simply wouldn’t fit into the straight world. Too boring.
Today I wonder. The ability to create a small business that succeeds is very small; it takes extraordinary time, skill and persistence.
On the other hand, a job requiring minimal education, competence and skill is available working for the government at wages and benefits many times higher than the self-employment market.
Put those two together and I really wonder whether people who start businesses these days are the homely ones.
Of course my readers know that I consider self-employed, business innovators, to be the true heroes of our society.
