Bomb throwing anarchists have returned. The prominent group is in Greece called Conspiracy of Fire Nuclei. They started in January.
Wikileaks is also anarchistic in its ideology, but cyber-warfare in its actions.
What is fascinating to me is that anarchism of the century before the last was based on the assumption that communal and industrial groups could cooperate to provide social services without a central government.
Wiki leaks assumes that the world would be better off with cooperation among smaller countries with the United States severely weakened.
Both of these theses gain support from the failure of idealistic central government arrangements like the USSR, Mao’s China, Cuba and others in the 20th century.
There is a new parallel approach from the mid 20th century. The new approach is somewhat different than these two: it is libertarianism. Libertarianism relies on a model of the commercial marketplace to act as the source of cooperation.
How will the new anarchism relate to libertarianism?
Fascinating.
