The brouhaha over the
Oval Office carpet is quickly forgotten.
But the diluted quote
from M.L. King Jr. and Theodore Parker ‘The arc of the moral universe is long, but it
bends toward justice.’ is inappropriate in the context of the
current Oval Office. There is little evidence to support anything the
Democratic Party, unions and Obama have done to support the the true source of justice. In the long arc of
history, the moral improvements from the Civil War were small compared to
the global atrocities of WWII, Communism and the rise of commerce-hate
by Arabs, the Luddite vision of the Greens and the wildly out of control
Jew-hate of the current European Left.
The only bending of the arc of history toward
justice has been the global expansion of commerce. Commerce ended the human political slaughter inherent in Soviet,
Chinese, Cambodian and Vietnamese communism (still ongoing in commerce
hating Cuba, North Korea and Venezuela) and ended global starvation the human norm for several hundred thousand years. Commerce ended the abbreviated global lifespan of 40 years (an average based on death
in infancy and death in childbirth) by bringing hygiene to the world. Those two commercial contributions have been the only true bending of
the arc of moral history toward justice. The whole point of pro commerce is that
commerce thrives on the moral values of diversity, meritocracy, openness
(honesty), love of technology and open markets. No other human institution
effectively promotes these positive human values...not religion, not the UN,
not the military, not law and not even democracy without commerce (examples
are Greece and Mexico).I summarize: the only bending of the moral
arc of history toward justice is the rise of commerce. That is the point
of this blog and you will only find a few other living people arguing
the same obvious fact.
