I want to point out two of his particularly original contributions to society, via commerce.
The first has to be the Apple Store. My friend, Stuart, took me to what he called the 'community center', on 3rd Street in Santa Monica. It was the Apple Store. Packed to the walls with young people, as these stores are found to be packed everywhere. Jobs has found a home for an entire generation ... the Apple Store is a brilliant invention of a community center.
The second has to be the Apple apps store online. The apps are created by nearly everyone and will become the future of nearly all products in the future, from toasters to race cars. They have changed our lives and will do so even more aggressively in the future.
