The traditional moral of the story is to chide the couple for being impatient or greedy.
That is wrong. The moral of the story is, obviously, don't think you know what creates wealth. I repeat: the obvious moral of the golden goose killer story is: don't think you know what creates wealth.
The Left has had absurd ideas about the sources of wealth for centuries: imperialism, exploitation of the poor, fraud, white collar crime and monopoly. The Left never understands that commerce is not a zero sum game.
Because the Left is so wrong about the sources of wealth, they never know when they are golden goose killers.
I live in a world in which most of the people are golden goose killers. That is certainly true of most Lefties, union advocates and particularly the elected officials of San Francisco.
The golden geese are often our most innovative corporations: WalMart, Target, Starbucks, Haliburton, Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, McDonald's, Fidelity, AIG, Toyota and Walgreens.
We can't know for sure how the golden goose produces golden eggs, but we know that higher taxes, progressive taxation and trade barriers are promoted by the golden geese killers.
