In this article that appears in the AARP official magazine, we have nothing but lies and distortion.
The main lie is the suggestion that there is a long term funding problem with Social Security, the monthly payment that goes to recipients of the many Social Security programs. Modifications were made to the funding and payout for Social Security in the mid 1980s and the program was made entirely solvent into the foreseeable future (50 years). No data was missing at the time.
The funding problem that has arisen since then, and faces us now, are the costs of Medicare especially with the Bush addition of drug coverage. Medical costs in the U.S. have risen at astounding rates (triple the rest of our expenses). That is the problem with Medicare. The liars at AARP never, never let the reader know what the problem is.
Then to be just plain nasty, the AARP distorts the record of Congressman Paul Ryan, the man who is most widely respected on this subject in the entire Congress.
