This is a phrase you had better know
if you are an American over 16 years of age. Our 'peculiar institution'
is the euphemism that was used for seventy years by Southerners to
refer to slavery. It was the Southerner's way to avoid directly dealing
with the moral power and emotional accuracy of the word 'slavery.'
I bring up this euphemism for two reasons: first we have a president who is using several euphemisms to avoid using the real words that carry impact. The real words are Islamic terrorism. The Arab and Persian worlds of Islam are hysterical in their hatred of Jews and America. This is a moral outrage not the slightest bit different from the moral outrage of slavery. Yet, our American President prefers euphemisms like ' human caused disasters' and 'military contingent operations'. These euphemisms sounds awfully close to 'peculiar institutions'.
The second reason I bring it up is because we have a president who pretends to be black and pretended to be black for 35 years. A real black would know the euphemism 'peculiar institution' and would be repulsed by the use of euphemisms in the face of true moral outrages. But our president, Barack Obama, has absolutely no connection to black American history. Euphemisms don't bother him. Islamic terrorism doesn't bother him.
His mother was a white anthropologist and the maternal grandmother who raised him was white. His father was a Harvard educated Kenyan. For those who know nothing about slave history here is a startling fact: No slaves came to the Americas from the Kenyan Luo tribe (Obama's father's tribe). All slaves came from the Ivory and Gold Coasts. A few slaves came to the coast via internal slavery but they never traveled more than a few hundred miles. From the Gold Coast to Kenya is 2,500 miles; with not a single road anywhere.
Nothing in Obama's history has any connection to American slave history. The man is a 100% phony black. And euphemisms that distort reality, like 'peculiar institution' mean nothing to him.
