Why don't others work hard?

 I am perpetually baffled by the exceptional work habits of Americans (U.S.) most Asians and Israelis and the poor work habits of all Europeans, Spanish speakers and Russians.  I have no comment on Africa and Arabia workers because it has nothing to do with work habits (tribal cultures).

So why do Americans work longer hours and more aggressively than any group in Europe who live for the weekend and their two month vacations?

Just two reasons:

(1)America (and major parts of Asia, and immigrants) can do work based on merit.  That is worth working hard for.  (2) We can also find work we love.
