When Sweden introduced a package of pro commerce reforms, I bought an ETF (exchange traded fund) of Swedish stock in anticipation of rapid Swedish growth.
Now I've sold the Swedish ETF because I have finally realized that it could be a long time before Sweden benefits from anything. Two reasons: one, as this article points out, more than half of Swedes are on the dole. Second, as this article points out, people on the dole, barely look for jobs. They certainly don't work hard.
The problem with Sweden and many other advanced socialist nations is that working hard is not something that we know how to re-create. Maybe it will return slowly. Too slowly for me as an investor.
