Would you buy an American nuclear umbrella if you were Saudi Arabia? Or anyone else?
So far the South Koreans and the Japanese bought American nuclear umbrellas. They saw nuclear warheads developed by North Korea and missiles tested over Japan. Not reassuring about the umbrella, especially considering the U.S. had 49 Patriot missiles only miles from the North Korean launch site and three patriots could have probably destroyed one North Korean missile shortly after launch.
Maybe potential American umbrella buyers may have looked at the protection Israel got from American Patriots in 1991. It looked just like the photo.
With America's current love your enemies and betray your long time friends foreign policy, our announce your pullout from Iraq and Afghanistan in advance policy, our break promises to Poland and Israel policy.... To buy an American nuclear umbrella doesn't look like a wise move.
