I received a wonderful Christmas
present: Cigar Aficionado magazine. It is a high gloss, expensive,
thick periodical with ads for expensive watches, cars and resorts.
I personally like tobacco in many forms (though smoking cigarettes interferes with my swimming). I have, over a lifetime found the cigars I like (a dry Dutch brand, Vasco da Gama). I smoke other cigars when they are given to me. I tried all the top cigars on a trip to Havana and didn't like the chlorine taste of the last 2 inches of pure Havanas.
So what would be of interest to my readers? Cigar Aficionada Magazine advertises that it has 1,949,000 readers based on an MRI Spring 09 survey.
Can there be that many rich cigar smokers in America who read a magazine heavy with glossy expensive ads?
I can't believe it, but if it is true we have many more defiant happy Americans than I ever thought possible.
