Where did this notion of a communications problem come from?
I've heard it for years in the gender wars. "He doesn't communicate" is considered a complete denunciation of a male partner, date, father, brother or roommate.
For decades it has been the trope that fully explains why a couple is no longer a couple: "He didn't communicate".
For the past three months it has been a common explanation from the White House, in the Huffington Post and from Politico for a year of stalemate on Health Care Reform 'the President has been unsuccessful in communicating his policy ideas for national health care.'
Now, the failures of the Obama foreign policy are being explained by the State Department as a case of "poor communications". You don't believe me? Read this State Department internal report.
The obvious meaning of communication (he DOES communicate) is that good communications make all sexual relations satisfactory, make everyone agree on fundamental issues, make sure there are no core differences in living habits, eradicate all differences of personal hygiene, odor or neatness..... and most of all good communications make all Obama domestic policies totally supported by the American people and make sure that all Obama foreign polices generate cooperation from Iran, China, North Korea and Russia.
Do I understand communication now? Its pixie dust.
