Did you know there was a rapidly growing anti-AARP organization? Yes, it is called American Seniors Association.
Once the AARP backed the Obama Healthcare initiative the anti-AARP organization began to grow.
I once planned to start such an opposition to AARP because the management is often at odds with the membership. This has happened in several categories.
* One category is the products the AARP sells which are often high priced and inadequate. The AARP are simply greedy and without concern for their members well-being.
* The second category is the regular political posture that supports increases in Social Security and related taxes on young people. Old people can not blithely disregard the next generation. Older Americans are not selfish, hard-hearted fools oblivious to the concerns of their children and grandchildren.
* Third, the management of AARP is
Lefty Fundamentalist. The AARP has no valid membership based reason to
support the Obama health package, especially when it included massive
reductions in senior Medicare.
If you are an AARP member, it is time to send them a strong note, quit and join the American Seniors Assn.
I can't find any facts on membership numbers but AARP has admitted losing over 100K members last year over Obamacare and ASA has been attributed 200K members. These are piddling numbers compared to AARP's 40 million members.
