In early Fall I asked the question: "Why are enlightened people so reluctant to say they are enlightened?"
I finally found the answer, thanks to Hans D. There are actually people on TV who claim to be enlightened and sell their personal guru program.
That is enough to convince me that announcing one's own enlightenment is wrong.
What would be the case if one said that he/she were enlightened but enlightenment is not really a big deal... it is just the ability to be present?
In this case Michael W. answered the question. Many people think enlightenment is a destination, once you get there you can't fall back. Of course that too is nonsense.
Enlightenment is more like being awake or asleep. You aren't awake all the time, even when you are dressed and walking around you aren't always "awake" in the sense of being present.
My question is answered. There is no way to say you are enlightened. Thank you all.
