Tonight it was at Fort Mason in San Francisco. Flat track. The crowd of 2,500 is very
young, no blacks even though the two teams were from Richmond and
Oakland, many Latinos and Filipinos. Equal men and women. A few
motorcycles and leather jackets. A few hippy beards. Mostly young
(average age 22) enthusiastic, non-Burning Man, definitely not the chi-chi San Francisco
crowd.
This is the crowd that goes to the movies in Daly City with the whole family and eats at the Cheesecake Factory on a hot date. Food was pulled pork sandwiches and lumpias. Drinks were local beer brewers and shots.
I loved the crowd, the energy and the top flight amateur athletes.
