If you have a baby at a hospital, you won't be allowed to leave unless the new born is strapped into a five point harness.
The 5 points are two around the waist, two over the shoulder and one under the crotch. The new born will remain, by law, in most of America, in just such a harness in a car until about age 5.
For about twenty years I have been wondering about the societal consequences of the 5 point harness.
Now I have seen some evidence about one consequence: kids use the crotch part of the harness to rub and wiggle against for masturbating.
My sample is small, roughly ten kids over ten years. How widespread this is, I don't know. What the effects on adulthood will be, I don't know. I have been watching carefully and will give you a report in ten years if I'm alive.
