In an interview with Stephen Hayes in the Weekly Standard, Dick Cheney
mentioned that the North Koreans have a reactor producing plutonium and
cerium.
Is this a leak? I know nothing about cerium. He must mean cerium 144 which is radioactive, has a half life of 8 months and generates heat as it decays. But what are its weaponry uses? Would it be used in a dirty bomb?
Please answer if you know why the North Koreans would want to produce cerium 144.
