The place I consider ideal for measuring American attitudes and behavior is the great Colorado plateau that has Denver on the southern end and Longmont on the north. This is a post industrial American representative location. This area has the urban development style of Los Angeles (sprawl without a center) without the Port or industrial factories of LA.
The most important shopping location for the Colorado Plateau is the Flatiron Crossings Mall.
I was there on the day after Christmas, yesterday. 95% of the parking spaces were full and at 1PM the lines in the food service area were impossibly long.
Was there a hint of a recession at this most typical of American retail locations? No!
