There is a fascinating website called MINT that helps you analyze your accounting information online and on your Iphone. It was started in San Francisco and has more than half a million users, including me.
I must admit I love the name. In 1975 Annie Styron (now Leonard) and I started a hippy organization in San Francisco with the acronym MINT which stood for Money Is Not Terrific.
We put out a press release with my phone number and some enticing descriptions of our organization (Annie had been a PR woman with the Guggenheim Museum). We were in newspapers around the world and I was interviewed for months on the radio.
Our MINT was based on the principles of simple living. When phoned I listed them: use it up, borrow it, get one from a flea market, or live without it. Those simple living principles still work in the current downturn.
