Apparent success

Roughly three years ago I changed the name of this blog from Gods of Commerce to Pro Commerce with the intention of changing the way English speakers view the world.

At the time I Googled the term and found only three or four references to the term the way I was using it.  There were many more references to the term meaning an abbreviation of 'professional' commerce.

Now I'm finding more usage of the term the way I use it, especially under Google Scholar. An example is:

"Exposed to balanced information, people with pro-commerce values tend to see the benefits of nanotechnology as outweighing any risks. However, people with egalitarian or communitarian values who are predisposed to blame commerce and industry for social inequities and environmental harm tend to see nanotechnology risks as outweighing benefits."

That is the way I use the term.  It is a functional replacement for the outmoded terms capitalist or free-market.  Neither of the older terms actually have a meaningful core.  All commerce uses capital regardless of the form of government and there are no free markets without contract enforcement, fraud penalties or public roads...usually supplied by government.

I might be having the effect I intended to have on the world.

PS: I have not taken a stand on nanotechnology.
