Bush's permanent change

 

I think there is good reason to believe that the first truly close relationship between Israel and the U.S. which is entirely the personal creation of President G.W. Bush is of significant international historic importance.

Why?

First, Israeli's now know that Americans of every population segment are allies of Israel.

Nearly every American can say four things of great relevance to the American-Israel alliance:

* Israel is the only democracy in the middle-East.

* Israel is a modern country with equality for women, freedom of religion and safety for gays.

* Israel is a loyal friend of the U.S. and has American values found in few other places in the world.

* The Palestinians are whiners, liars and teach their children to be terrorists. Arabs hate America and Israel.

I see no reason why this alliance shouldn't last forty or more years. Most of those four items are deeply ingrained and would be hard to change.
