I
was at party talking to a very good looking female Harvard biology
post-doc in the mid-1970s at a time when I was leading a movement to
keep Japan from being demonized for their research whaling.
I
knew the data. There were more than 200,000 adult Grey whales and fewer
than 2,000 were being killed by the Japanese research ships.
I asked the good looking biologist her opinion about several whaling issues and then told her what I knew and my sources.
She
adamantly told me I was wrong, the anti-whaling movement was inherently
and morally right and then she added the coupe de gras: 'If what you
say were true I would have heard it from my Jewish friends at Harvard
first.'
