It has been my experience over more than 40 years, that among the numerous women I have lived with that when one of them cooked a particularly great meal and I suggested that they remember and serve it again......that they never did.
Of course it could be me. But I've heard this complaint from other men and women.
I also notice I do the same thing. I seldom cook from recipes and so when someone loves what I cook, comments glowingly on the food, I am delighted with the immediate response but seldom make a note to repeat the success.
Maybe the goal in cooking is immediate pleasure, not running a successful restaurant.
