I want to help the Supreme Court on the current case before them on firearms, just in case
they are reading my blogs. The words of the Second Amendment are: A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a
free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be
infringed.
I have a suggestion that can resolve the conflict between
militia needs and individual rights.
Ownership of firearms will hence forth be limited to people serving in or who have served in the U.S. military or a State military or an authorized police force.
That resolves the conflicting interpretations and does it in a way that any individual can own a firearm simply by serving in a military or police organization. I served in the Army so I think my proposal is fine.
