Commerce is wholly dependent on numbers. Well run businesses of every size and form are numbers driven. What better example than the Wall Street Journal which is about business and is a numbers paper.
It is appropriate to note that core science and most good science is numbers driven, some is pure numbers. Niels Bohr, a teacher I once had, claimed that all science was about constants.
Considering the parallels between the dependence of commerce on numbers and the reliance of science on numbers wouldn't it be appropriate to suggest that numbers and their deep connection to the empiric world are the key reason these two human paths are so triumphant?
Numbers are needed to grasp the empiric world. The reliance of commerce and science on numbers is the reason they are so triumphant in the empiric world.
