A family member recently had to put down an elderly beloved dog. The vet did it quickly and humanely.
It came to my mind that veterinarians put down thousands of large beloved mammals everyday, ranging from horses to large dogs. Everyone, including the extreme animal rights people, seem to think these veterinary procedures are gentle and kind.
But our legislatures and high court judges have decided that similar methods used on death row inmates, mostly horrible monsters, are cruel and unusual punishment.
So why don't we have veterinaries handle death row procedures or at least train people to use veterinary techniques?
