The web has a curious phenomenon to watch out for if you are introducing a new web product.
When
a new website idea becomes visible on the web (whether it is ready or
not) a gigantic swarm of web-knowledgeable locusts swarms on to it and
tries it out. Within a day or so, the swarm has discussed the
viability of the new website and either promoted it or rejected it.
Most often rejecting it.
Advice to all new websites: (1) Don't go public until you are ready. (2) When you are ready, be prepared for the swarm and have a plan for getting directly into the swarming locust's discussion sites to explain what the new website is really all about and how it works.
The swarm can come at 2AM on a Tuesday morning without warning and can include tens of thousands of hits. Have some way to know when it hits.
