This is the first restaurant I've recommended in a long while. Two
reasons. First Ducca is in a hotel (the Westin at 3rd and Market) so it
is spacious, it is open on Sundays and Mondays...so you can always get
in on some evening. It has a large outdoor bar, where today's dotcom
geeks are hanging out when the weather is good.
Two, the food and service are excellent. This is not the French Laundry. There are no 10's in San Francisco but this is an 8 on my scale, about the highest you can get in this town.
While we are at it, Greens at Fort Mason, a vegetarian restaurant
that has been open for 26 years has recently taken a turn for the
better in its food quality and imagination. (Disclaimer: Greens was
created with my initiative and for the past six years I have been
working with the Board to make it better.)
