I took this photo of Gandhi at the San Francisco Ferry Terminal at
sunset. The image is intended to suggest the sunset of Gandhi's
influence on the world. It is not that Gandhi's personal non-violence
is in itself offensive, it is the pacifist theology behind it that has
wrought harm to millions of people and tens of millions of minds.
Fortunately, there are a number of books in the production process that explain what a failure pacificism is as a theology and political movement. Just two points for my readers. (1) At the beginning of WWII when England was about to be defeated by Hitler, Gandhi told Churchill that unless India was promised independence after the war, Gandhi would lead an insurrection that would drain England to the bone. If that is how pacifism works, I fail to see any decent morals in it, as practiced by its leader. (2) Before Kosovo was invaded it was the best trained and most successful peace movement in the history of the world. Pristina was 100% operated by pacifists. All the Albanian pacifists (90% of the population) were driven out of the country in the Serb invasion and were only able to return home after the American led bombing of Belgrade.
