My friend Alex G. (I have two friends named Alex) pointed out, when we
were walking on Clement Street, (the most interesting and vital street
in San Francisco) that San Francisco is segregated.
Yes, Asians are on Clement and in the Richmond, Blacks are in the
Western Addition and Latinos are in the Mission with very little overlap. Other
areas of the City are mostly white.
There are some other smaller segregated districts: two Asian areas in the outer Irving and in Chinatown and a Black area in the Bayview.
The only integrated area is the Tenderloin and it has always been a melting pot of new immigrants and drunks.
